SAFEGUARDING
Every child and young person has the right to enjoy combat sport in a safe, respectful environment. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, including Fight Finder's. We design and operate the platform to reduce risk, respond to concerns and put the welfare of under-18s first.
Fight Finder will take reasonable steps to prevent its services being used to contact, exploit, groom, intimidate or expose a child to avoidable risk. We will review reports, restrict or remove unsafe content and accounts, preserve relevant information, and refer serious concerns to the police, children's services or another appropriate safeguarding body where necessary.
Under-18 accounts are adult-managed
An under-18 fighter must not create or operate their own Fight Finder account. Their profile must be created and managed by a parent, legal guardian or authorised responsible coach aged 18 or over. The managing adult is responsible for the profile, communications and decisions made through it.
No private adult-to-child contact
Promoters, coaches and other adults must communicate through the adult managing the profile. They must not ask an under-18 to move a conversation to personal messaging, keep contact secret, meet without appropriate supervision, or share personal or sexual content. Fight Finder may suspend an account immediately while a concern is reviewed.
Information kept to a minimum
Public profiles must not include a child's personal telephone number, email address, home address, school, daily routine, unsupervised location or travel arrangements. Use the responsible adult's contact information. Only information genuinely needed for safe sporting opportunities should be published.
Photos, video and consent
A child's image may only be uploaded with informed permission from their parent or legal guardian and, where appropriate, the child. Images must be suitable for a public sporting profile and must not reveal school, home or other sensitive location details. Permission can be withdrawn and the image will be removed after a verified request.
Safe matchmaking and events
Fight Finder helps adults discover potential opportunities; it does not approve a bout or replace responsible matchmaking. Before participation, the promoter, club, coach and managing adult must check the organisation, safeguarding arrangements, rules, age and weight category, experience, opponent suitability, medical requirements, insurance, supervision and any governing-body requirements. A child's welfare must take priority over filling a fight card.
What we expect from organisations
If a child tells you something
Listen calmly, take them seriously and do not investigate or confront the person named. Never promise to keep it secret. Explain that you need to share the concern with someone who can help. Record what was said as accurately as possible and report it promptly through the appropriate safeguarding route.
REPORTING A CONCERN
Immediate danger: call 999.
A child needs confidential support: contact Childline on 0800 1111.
Advice or a non-emergency concern: contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000, the relevant local authority children's services team, or the organisation's safeguarding lead.
Concern involving Fight Finder: use our confidential reporting form. We will review the report and take proportionate action; however, reporting to Fight Finder must never delay contacting emergency or statutory services.
This approach is informed by NSPCC safeguarding in sport guidance, NSPCC online safety guidance and the government's Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance. It should be formally reviewed by a qualified UK safeguarding professional before full public launch.
